SAN ANTONIO — Junior McKenzie Adams posted her 15th double-double and hit .515 to lead UTSA to a sweep of Seattle (25-14, 25-15, 25-15) on Saturday night at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners (15-8, 8-5 WAC) recorded a season-best .429 hitting percentage en route to their seventh sweep of the season.

Adams led all players with 18 kills and she added 14 digs, three assists, two blocks and a pair of service aces, while junior Brandy Huskey handed out 44 assists, as a UTSA committed seven attack errors.

The defense was just as solid in limiting the Redhawks (7-16, 2-11 WAC) to a .110 hitting percentage. Freshman Annie Kunes anchored the back line with 19 digs, while junior Paige Hamilton added 10.

Seattle received 12 winners from Kaytlyn Dill and 14 digs from Lani Beadle.

The Roadrunners set the tone early by hitting at a .459 clip in the opening set.

UTSA jumped out to a 5-2 advantage and never looked back. The Birds increased their lead to 21-9 following a kill by senior Whitney Walls. UTSA then scored four of the final nine points to claim the 11-point victory.

Adams racked up a .562 hitting percentage on nine kills in 16 errorless attacks to put the Roadrunners up by two going into the locker room.

She posted three winners, as UTSA opened up a 7-3 advantage. The Schertz native then fueled a 12-6 run with five more kills to put the Roadrunners in front by double digits. The two teams split the final dozen points and senior Allie Bettinger ended the stanza with back-to-back winners.

UTSA hit .452 and used a balanced attack to finish out the match.

The Redhawks took their first lead of the match at 3-2, but a kill by freshman Kylie Schott tied up the frame. Seattle grabbed three more one-point advantages, but senior Brittney Malloy pulled the Birds even at six with a kill. Back-to-back Redhawks attack errors gave UTSA the lead for good and sophomore Becca Stark ended the contest with her first career winner.

The Roadrunners will return to action when on Thursday, Nov. 1, when they travel to UT Arlington (8-17, 4-9 WAC). First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
