SAN ANTONIO — UTSA received double-doubles from juniors McKenzie Adams and Brandy Huskey and the Roadrunners swept Houston Baptist by scores of 25-23, 25-21, 25-11 on Tuesday night at the Convocation Center.

Adams posted a match-high 17 kills to go along with her 16 digs, while Huskey handed out a match-best 43 assists and also collected 10 stops.

UTSA (8-4), which limited the Huskies (8-8) to a .123 hitting percentage, hit at a .297 clip and picked up 11 winners from senior Brittney Malloy. Meanwhile, junior Paige Hamilton led all players with 21 digs.

Victoria Weatherly racked up a double-double of 28 assists and 16 digs to pace Houston Baptist.

The Birds had to rally from a late two-point deficit to win the opening frame.

Houston Baptist grabbed a 20-18 lead before UTSA scored two straight to tie things up. After the two teams split the next six points, the Roadrunners took the lead for good on Huskey's winner and finished off the set by forcing an attack error.

UTSA capitalized on the momentum to take a commanding lead in the match.

The Birds raced out to a 6-1 advantage in the second set behind a trio of winners from Adams. However, the Huskies rallied to pull to within one (17-16) before a 4-2 spurt gave UTSA some distance. The two teams split the final eight points and Adams slammed home the final kill to send the Roadrunners into the locker room with a 2-0 advantage.

UTSA opened another large advantage in the final stanza by posting a 5-1 lead. Houston Baptist again rallied to pull to within one (7-6), but the Roadrunners scored 11 of the next 12 points to pull away for their first sweep since Aug. 30 against Belmont.

UTSA will close out its four-match home stand on Friday night when it hosts its I-35 rival Texas State (6-7, 1-1 WAC). First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
