SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will open its home campaign with a non-conference match against Rice at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Convocation Center.

The Roadrunners posted a 2-1 record at the Blue Raiders Bash last weekend and junior outside hitter McKenzie Adams and senior outside hitter Whitney Walls both were named to the all-tournament team for their performances.

Adams led the Birds with 50 kills (4.17 kps) in the three matches, while Walls racked up 32 kills (2.67 kps) and hit at a.303 clip. Senior middle hitter Brittney Malloy leads UTSA with a .354 hitting percentage and junior setter Brandy Huskey is averaging 11 assists per frame.

The Owls opened their campaign with a sweep of Air Force before dropping back-to-back matches to Arkansas State and BYU last weekend at the Rice Invitational I in Houston.

Nancy Cole leads the Owls' offensive attack with 3.4 kills per panel and a .329 hitting percentage. Rice has limited its opponents to a .190 hitting percentage and Jillian Humphrey paces the club at the net with 2.4 blocks per set.

Tuesday marks the 16th meeting between the teams with the Owls holding a 14-1 advantage in the all-time series. Rice has won the last four meetings, while UTSA's last win in the series came on Sept. 2, 2006, in a five-set contest at Houston.
