SAN ANTONIO — Head coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff announced Tuesday that Kristin Booker (Houston, Texas/North Shore HS) has signed a National Letter of Intent and will join the Roadrunners for the 2012 season.
Booker, a 6-foot-3 middle hitter, led North Shore High School to back-to-back District 21-5A Championships in her final two campaigns. She earned second-team all-district honors as a senior after averaging 1.1 kills and 0.9 blocks per set. Booker also was named the "Best Blocker" over the past two seasons under head coach Dawn Gutierrez.
"Kristin adds some size and depth to our
middle blocking position," Groff said. "She strengthens our very
talented freshman class for next season."
Booker joins November fall signees Jordan Katara (Poth, Texas/Poth HS), Annie Kunes (Fontana, Wis./Big Foot HS) and Kyle Schott (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair HS).
UTSA, which posted a 22-11 last fall, advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament Championship Match for the second consecutive year. Five Roadrunners were named All-Southland, including redshirt junior Setter of the Year Kelsey Schwirtlich and sophomore Newcomer of the Year McKenzie Adams.
The Roadrunners will compete in the Western Athletic Conference this fall.
