SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head volleyball coach Laura Neugebauer-Groff announced Tuesday the addition of Brandy Huskey as a midterm transfer from Texas Tech.

Huskey, who is the younger sister of former Roadrunner Elise Huskey, will have two years of eligibility remaining after spending the two previous seasons with the Red Raiders.

"We are excited about adding Brandy to our program," Neugebauer-Groff said. "She's familiar to our team and is a talented player who will fill an immediate need at the setter position."

The 5-foot-10 junior-to-be appeared in 22 matches while making six starts for Texas Tech last fall. She recorded 126 digs and 57 assists during the season. Two years ago, Huskey competed in 15 matches while making eight starts. She drew a pair of starting assignments in Big 12 play and averaged 9.17 assists during those two matches.

Huskey joins three high school student-athletes — Jordan Kotara (Poth, Texas/Poth HS), Annie Kunes (Fontana, Wis./Big Foot HS) and Kylie Schott (Cypress, Texas/Cy-Fair HS) — who signed National Letters of Intent in November.

UTSA finished the 2011 campaign with a 22-11 record and advanced to the Southland Conference Tournament Championship Match for the second consecutive season. Five Roadrunners were named All-Southland, including Setter of the Year Kelsey Schwirtlich and Newcomer of the Year McKenzie Adams.

Next fall, UTSA will compete in its first season as a member of the Western Athletic Conference.
