The championship will be hosted by San Antonio Sports, the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the City of San Antonio, which has the prestigious designation of being an NCAA Championship City. It will mark the second time the event has come to the Alamodome, as it hosted the tournament in 2005.
Four San Antonio officials currently are in Kansas City observing the 2010 tournament including Dr. Susan Blackwood, San Antonio Sports Executive Director; Jenny Carnes, 2011 Local Organizing Committee Executive Director; Kari Chapman, San Antonio Sports staff member; and Brian Hernandez, UTSA associate athletics communications director.
“San Antonio is once again very excited and honored to host this NCAA Championship in the Alamodome, which will be just the second time the event will be played in a dome facility,” Carnes said. “We look forward to creating a memorable experience for the NCAA, participating teams and members of the American Volleyball Coaches Association. We’re eager to showcase the best of college volleyball to the San Antonio community, including the thousands of young club and school volleyball athletes in our area.”
