SAN ANTONIO — Middle hitters Briana Mason and Brittney Malloy recently were named to COBRA Magazine's All-Southwest Region Team. The publication's purpose is to celebrate the success of volleyball players of African descent in hopes of encouraging girls across the country to pursue the sport.

Mason, a senior from Dallas, finished third on the team with 223 kills (1.86 kps) this fall, while leading UTSA with 120 total blocks. She finished seventh in the Southland Conference with an average of one block per set. Her career mark of 286 total blocks is the sixth-most in the program's history and she also ranks fourth in block assists (225) and seventh in block solos (61).

Meanwhile, Malloy, a local product out of Warren High School, led the Roadrunners with a .308 hitting percentage in her sophomore campaign. She was fourth on the squad with 213 winners (1.84 kps) and second in total blocks (107) this season.
