LEXINGTON, Ky. — The American Volleyball Coaches Association announced Tuesday that McKenzie Adams was named the Sports Imports/AVCA Division I National Player of the Week.

The senior outside hitter averaged 6.86 kills, 4.71 digs, and 7.43 points per set and hit .396 in the Roadrunners' two victories at Charlotte and Marshall. She had a career-high 31 winners en route to hitting .426 on her 61 attacks and added 21 digs in Sunday's four-set win against the Thundering Herd. In Friday’s three-set sweep of the 49ers, the Preseason Conference USA Player of the Year registered 17 kills and a dozen digs while hitting .343.

For the season, the Schertz native ranks second nationally with 5.51 kills and third with 5.97 points per set.

Adams, the first Roadrunner to be honored with the weekly AVCA award, is just the fifth C-USA player and first since Tulsa’s Tyler Henderson in 2012 to be recognized.
