SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will wrap up its four-match road trip with a 2 p.m. contest at I-35 rival Texas State on Saturday.

The Roadrunners (13-7, 6-4 WAC), who currently are fourth in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) standings, are coming off a sweep of league-leading Utah State on Monday night. Junior outside hitter McKenzie Adams paced the Birds with a match-high 16 kills, while junior setter Brandy Huskey handed out 37 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Dempsey Thornton also chipped in with 11 winners.

UTSA leads the WAC in assists (12.9) and kills (13.9) per set, while Adams ranks second in the league with four kills per frame and senior outside hitter Whitney Walls check in at 10th with 2.8 winners per panel.

The Roadrunners rank sixth in the nation with 18.34 digs per stanza and are led by freshman defensive specialist Annie Kunes, who leads the circuit with 4.8 per set. Adams also checks in at sixth in the league with 3.7 digs per frame.

Meanwhile, the Bobcats (10-11, 5-5 WAC) are a match behind the Birds in the league standings, but they have lost two of their last three outings. Texas State dropped a three-set contest at Denver last Thursday but rallied to top New Mexico State two days later. However, the Bobcats were swept at San Jose State on Monday night. Alexandra Simms paces the Texas State offense and ranks eighth in the WAC with three kills per set.

Saturday's contest marks the 65th all-time meeting between the two teams and the Bobcats hold a 51-13 advantage. The two clubs have split the last four matches, including a sweep by the Roadrunners on Sept. 21 in San Antonio, which their first home victory against Texas State in nearly four years (Sept. 28, 2008). UTSA also swept its rival in the last meeting in San Marcos (Sept. 22, 2011).
