SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will head north and conclude its fall season at this weekend's Longhorns Invitational. The three-day tournament begins on Friday at the Penick-Allison Tennis Center on the campus of the University of Texas.
The event will feature 32 players from McNeese State, Rice, Stephen F. Austin, Wichita State and Wisconsion in addition to the Roadrunners and the host Longhorns. There will be two 16-player singles brackets and one 16-team doubles draw.
Irene Gandara Gonzalez, Lina Hallgren, Isabelle Jonsson, Jacobea Junger and Miriam Rosell Canudas will represent UTSA this weekend.
Rosell Canudas was tabbed Conference USA Player of the Month for October on Tuesday. The freshman from Barcelona, Spain, won a total of nine matches (five singles/four doubles) at a pair of tournaments last month.
The Roadrunners won a total of five matches (three singles/two doubles) in their last outing two weeks ago at the Texas State Play Date. Daniela Garcia-Diaz and Alena Shickova both recorded wins in the second round and also paired up for a win in their lone doubles match over Prairie View A&M.
