Idaho clips Roadrunners, 4-3

SAN ANTONIO — Idaho edged UTSA, 4-3, in a Western Athletic Conference (WAC) match on Friday at the UTSA Tennis Center.

The Vandals (7-8, 1-1 WAC) won two of three doubles matchups and split the six singles tilts, including two in three sets, to knock off the Roadrunners (5-10, 0-4 WAC).

Irene Gandara Gonzalez, Isabelle Jonsson and Alena Shichkova all picked up victories in singles play for UTSA.

Jonsson and Shichkova both netted comeback, three-set victories.

Jonsson tallied her win at the second position, while Shichkova topped Constance Alexander at the third spot.

Meanwhile, Gandara Gonzalez registered a 6-4, 6-1 win against Alejandra Lozano at No. 6 singles.

UTSA returns to action at 10 a.m. on Saturday against UT Arlington (6-8, 4-2 WAC).
