SAN ANTONIO — Houston won the doubles point and rode that momentum to a 4-3 victory at UTSA on Friday afternoon.
The Roadrunners (2-1), who dropped their first match of the spring, were unable to rally from the early deficit despite picking up a trio of singles wins at the Nos. 1, 2 and 6 positions.
The Cougars (4-2) added to their doubles point by winning the next three singles tilts at the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 spots to clinch the contest.
Jacobea Junger and Isabelle Jonsson each remained unbeaten in singles action at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.
Junger rallied after dropping the first frame to win the final two sets, 6-1 and 1-0 (10-6), while Jonsson netted a 6-0, 7-5 victory.
The Roadrunners will host St. Edward's (0-1) on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 11 a.m.
