No. 50 Stephen F. Austin gets past Roadrunners, 6-1

NACOGDOCHES — No. 50 Stephen F. Austin rolled to a 6-1 victory against UTSA on Saturday at the Schlief Tennis Complex.

The Ladyjacks (19-3, 9-0 SLC) won their fourth consecutive contest after sweeping doubles play and winning five of the six singles tilts.

The Roadrunners (7-11, 2-6 SLC) picked up their only point at No. 2 singles, as sophomore Isabelle Jonsson earned a 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 victory against Tereza Bekerova.

Senior Stephanie Peana nearly collected another point for the Birds at the top spot. Peana won the opening set, 6-4, but she dropped the second frame, 6-3, to Alina Shazhko. The Austin native then fell in decisive panel, 1-0 (10-8).

UTSA returns to the court on Monday, April 9, when it hosts Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m.
