SAN ANTONIO — UTSA has a busy scheduled planned for the next four days, as it will play a pair of road matches and one at home.
The Roadrunners will travel to Sam Houston State for an 11 a.m. matchup on Friday before heading to No. 50 Stephen F. Austin for 11 a.m. tilt the following day. Two days later, the Birds will host Southeastern Louisiana at 1 p.m. at the UTSA Tennis Center.
UTSA (7-9, 2-4 SLC) currently is in the midst of a five-match losing streak, which includes a 6-1 setback against I-35 rival Texas State last Sunday.
Sophomore Irene Gandara Gonzalez and sophomore Isabelle Jonsson are tied for the team lead with nine singles victories this spring, while senior Stefanie Peana and Jonnson have collected eight wins at the No. 1 doubles spot.
The Bearkats (10-5, 4-3 SLC) have dropped two of their last three outings, including a 5-2 loss at Northwestern State last Sunday. Natalie Petaia and Tatyana Postnikova each boast 10-3 marks in singles play, while Petaia is 4-1 in conference action. Nadia Dubyanskaya and Postnikova have teamed up for a 10-2 ledger in doubles competition.
The Ladyjacks enter Saturday's match with a 17-3 overall record and they are a perfect 7-0 in Southland Conference action this spring. Reigning Southland Player of the Week Elena Kordolaimi has won five consecutive singles contests and she sports a 15-4 mark this spring. Meanwhile, the pairing of Jithmie Jayawickrema and Alina Shazhko is 15-2 in doubles action.
The Lady Lions (8-7, 1-5 SLC) have dropped two of their last three matches, including a 5-1 setback against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on March 26. Southeastern Louisiana will play at both UT Arlington (Friday) and Texas State (Saturday) before taking on the Roadrunners. Morgane Dadot leads the Lady Lions with eight triumphs in singles play, while Audrey Chelini and Marion Courbis have combined for an 8-3 mark in doubles action.
