Roadrunners to begin four-game home stand this week
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will kick off a four-game home stand this week with a Tuesday contest against UMBC followed by a tilt against New Mexico State two days later. First serve is slated for 1 p.m. both days at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (7-5) have split their four matches this month. UTSA is coming off a 5-2 setback at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi last Wednesday.
Sophomore Isabelle Jonsson, who has won back-to-back singles matches, holds an 8-4 mark this spring, while freshman Irene Gandara Gonzalez also has posted an 8-4 record.
Meanwhile, the duos of senior Stefanie Peana and Jonsson and juniors Natalie Hand and Kavya Menon both have netted six wins in doubles play.
The Retrievers (8-5) enter the mid-week match having won five consecutive outings, including back-to-back road tilts against USC Upstate and Longwood.
The Aggies (7-4) come into a Tuesday meeting with Texas State having won six of their last seven contests after starting the spring with with just one victory in their first four matches.
