UTSA women to square off with Nicholls on Saturday
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will host Nicholls in a Southland Conference match at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Originally scheduled to be played at the UTSA Tennis Center, the contest has been moved to the T Bar M Resort in New Braunfels due to inclement weather in the Alamo City.
The Roadrunners (6-4, 1-1 SLC) will attempt to bounce back from last Sunday's 6-1 setback at Northwestern State.
Freshman Irene Gandara Gonzalez, who has won three consecutive matches, boasts a 7-3 record to lead the UTSA singles contingent, while the duo of senior Stefanie Peana and sophomore Isabelle Jonsson have posted five wins at the top doubles spot.
The Colonels (2-6, 0-3 SLC) have dropped four straight matches, including a 4-3 decision against USC Upstate on Tuesday. Parija Maloo currently sports a 7-1 mark at No. 1 singles, while Maloo and Janna Leeuwerik have netted five victories at the top doubles position.
