UTSA falls at Northwestern State, 6-1
NATCHITOCHES, La. — Northestern State remained unbeaten in Southland Conference play after handing UTSA a 6-1 setback on Sunday at Jack Fisher Tennis Complex.
The Lady Demons (6-1, 2-0 SLC) swept the opening doubles session and then won five of the six singles tilts.
Freshman Irene Gandara Gonzalez picked up the Roadrunners' lone point after cruising to a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Olga Leyshyna at the No. 6 position.
Northwestern State claimed the other five singles matchups in straight sets.
UTSA (6-4, 1-1 SLC) will return to the courts on Saturday, March 10, when it hosts Nicholls in a Southland tilt.
