UTSA knocks off Sam Houston State on Saturday, 4-3

SAN ANTONIO — Senior Caroline Dedering picked up the clinching singles victory as the UTSA women's tennis team knocked off Sam Houston State, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the UTSA Tennis Center.

Dedering posted a straight-sets win (6-3, 6-3) over Nadia Duyanskaya at third singles to secure the win for the Roadrunners (5-11, 2-7 SLC).

Sam Houston State (7-8, 4-6 SLC)  earned the doubles point after cliaming two of the three tilts, but UTSA rebounded to win the top four singles flights in straight sets.

Senior Stefanie Peana gained a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Imke Jagau at the No. 1 position, while junior Micaela Silva was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over Tatyana Postnikova at second singles. Sopohomore Kavya Menon rounded out the UTSA singles winners with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Sheridan Currie in the No. 4 position.
