SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women's tennis squad will continue Southland Conference play with a two-match home stand against Sam Houston State at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Stephen F. Austin at 11 a.m. the next day.
The Roadrunners (4-11, 1-7 SLC) were shut out last weekend at Texas State. Senior Caroline Dedering and junior Micaela Silva currently lead the team with six singles victories each, while sophomore Mariel Maffezzolli and Kavya Menon lead the pack in doubles play.
Sam Houston State (7-7, 2-5 SLC) lost to Northwestern State last time out, but the Bearkats blanked Central Arkansas the day before. Anrinette Botha and Sheridan Currie currently lead Sam Houston with eight singles victories, while senior Cally Woerner has teamed up with Currie for an 11-2 mark at No. 2 doubles.
Meanwhile, the Ladyjacks (18-3, 6-3 SLC) boast a pair of 18-match winners in Ksenia Berestetska and Alina Shazhko. Shazhko has joined forces with Paola Montuenga for nine victories at the top doubles position.
