LAKE CHARLES, La. — Senior Caroline Dedering cruised in her singles match, but it was not enough and UTSA dropped a 6-1 decision at McNeese State on Sunday.

The Cowgirls (4-9, 1-6 SLC) won all three doubles contests to grab the early point and went on to win five of the six singles tilts.

Dedering collected the lone point for the Roadrunners (4-10, 1-6 SLC) after posting a straight-sets victory (6-2, 6-1) against Anastasio Surkova at No. 4 singles.

Junior Micaela Silva and sophomore Kavya Menon each won their opening sets, but both dropped the next two.

UTSA will return to action on Sunday, April 10, in a 1 p.m. match at I-35 rival Texas State (7-7, 3-4 SLC).
