SAN ANTONIO — Junior Stefanie Peana outlasted Mirna Cicak in three sets at the top singles position, but it was not enough on Thursday, as Texas A&M-Corpus Christi handed UTSA a 6-1 home setback.

The Roadrunners (4-7, 1-3 SLC) dropped their fifth match in the last half dozen outings.

Peana earned UTSA's lone point of the afternoon after coming back to win her top-flight match. Cicak won the opening frame, 6-2, but Peana bounced back to record 6-4, 6-3 triumphs in the final two sets to close out singles action.

Junior Micaela Silva recorded a second-set victory to push her match at No. 2 singles to three sets before eventually falling to Doris Kuselj (6-1, 4-6, 6-3).

The Islanders (6-2, 4-1 SLC) went on to win the other three singles contests in straight sets and claimed all three doubles matches.

The Texas A&M-Corpus Christi duo of Cicak and Sandra Burges remained perfect on the season with an 8-7 (7-4) win over Peana and Silva at the top doubles spot.

UTSA will resume league play on Sunday, March 27, at No. 66 UT Arlington (8-2, 4-0 SLC).
