IRVING — Miriam Rosell Canudas was tabbed Conference USA Player of the Month for October, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The freshman from Barcelona, Spain, won a total of nine matches (five singles/four doubles) at a pair of tournaments last month.

She advanced to the Wildcat Flight championship final at the Wildcats Invitational (Oct. 11-13) in her first tournament as a Roadrunner. Rosell Canudas won her first three singles matches at the season-opening event and also teamed with Isabelle Jonsson for a pair of victories in doubles play.

She then was victorious in her first two singles matches on the opening day of the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals (Oct. 17-20) to advance to the third round of the main draw and also paired up with Jonsson for two more doubles triumphs at the weekend event in Fort Worth.

UTSA will conclude its fall campaign this weekend at the Longhorns Invitational in Austin. The three-day tournament is scheduled to begin on Friday.
