ENGLEWOOD, Colo — The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced Tuesday that UTSA was the winner of its annual Commissioner's Cup.

The Roadrunners, who scored 90 points, ended the year with WAC Championships in indoor track & field and baseball (tournament). Idaho was second with 86.5 points, while Utah State finished in third with 82 (click here for the complete standings).

"It was a tremendous achievement to win the WAC Commissioner's Cup in our first season in the league," Athletics Director Lynn Hickey said. "The credit goes to all the hard work and dedication from our student-athletes and coaches. We've always felt we had a well-rounded department, one in which we are successful across the board in all of our sports. Winning our third conference commissioner's cup in the last six years is a great reward and representation of that success."

UTSA now has captured three conference commissioner's cups in the last six years (2007-08 & 2010-11 Southland Conference) and the Roadrunners have finished third or higher in cup races in each of the last eight years.

The WAC awards its Commissioner's Cup to the school that performs the best in each of the conference's 19 men's and women's championships. Points are awarded in order of finish, equal to the number of teams that participate in each sport, and are averaged between a team's regular-season finish (if applicable) and its WAC Championship finish. Teams that do not qualify for a postseason tournament due to a smaller field receive points equal to their regular-season finish. Ties are not broken but instead are averaged between the tied teams. Affiliate members are not eligible for the Commissioner's Cup, but their standings still are used for determining overall points.

All WAC member institutions claimed either a regular season or postseason championship in at least one sport for the third consecutive year.
