SAN ANTONIO —
UTSA head coach Sherman Corbett announced Friday the rearrangement of this weekend's three-game Southland Conference series with Lamar at Roadrunner Field due to rain in the Alamo City.
Friday's opener, originally scheduled for 6 p.m., now will be part of a twi-night doubleheader that will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday (weather permitting). The final game of the weekend set remains scheduled for 1 p.m. on Sunday.
UTSA comes into the series with a 19-17 overall record and 9-9 mark in SLC play, which has it in seventh place in the league standings, but the Roadrunners are just two games out of second and four behind leader Texas State.
Meanwhile, the Cardinals have dropped four games in a row (five of six overall) and they will bring a 23-15 ledger (10-8 SLC) to the Bird Bath.
Junior right-hander Red Patterson (4-2, 4.82 ERA) will oppose righty Eric Harrington (6-0, 1.91) in Saturday's opener and senior southpaw Kris Ruepke (0-4, 8.79) will face right-hander Matison Smith (5-2, 4.01) in the nightcap. The Roadrunners have yet to announce a starter for Sunday's finale, but Lamar will send righty Ricky Testa (3-3, 4.76) to the mound.
