TUCSON, Ariz. — Left fielder Riley Good was tabbed a Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball on Wednesday. Good is the fifth player in program history to earn the nation's most prestigious honor for first-year players.

Good started all 59 games in the leadoff spot in the lineup this spring. The Southland Conference honorable mention selection currently is tied for second among the nation's freshmen with 86 hits (t-38th overall).

"It means a lot," Good said. "I just try to do whatever I can to help the team win. I always push myself to be the best I can be on the field."

"Riley is deserving of this honor," 11th-year head coach Sherman Corbett said. "He had a great freshman season and we're happy he was rewarded for his hard work. I look forward to see how he'll progress in future years at the top of our lineup."

The Godley native, who batted .337 with three triples, a pair of home runs and 32 RBIs this season, set program freshman records for hits, doubles (15) and stolen bases (16). Good's team-leading 113 total bases translated into a .443 slugging percentage and he also paced the Roadrunners with 25 multi-hit games while crossing the plate 42 times. He had a 13-game hitting streak from March 18-April 8 in which he hit .458 (27-for-59) with six doubles, two triples, a homer and 10 RBIs. The 6-foot, 170-pounder also reached base safely by hit, walk or hit by pitch in a team-high 36 consecutive games from March 1-May 1. Good tied a school record with four stolen bases, including three in the first inning, on Feb. 20 at Louisiana-Monroe.

He played 56 of his 59 games error-free while recording 95 putouts and he committed just three errors in 108 chances. Good also registered a team-high 10 outfield assists, which included throwing out three runners at the plate.

Ryan Dalton (2010), Tim Palincsar (2007), Michael Rockett (2006) and Ryan Crew (2003) are the other four Roadrunners to earn Freshman All-America honors in UTSA's 20-year history.
