Roadrunners in 11th place after first day of LSU Tigers Classic
BATON ROUGE, La. — The UTSA women’s golf team is in 11th place after the first day of the LSU Tigers Classic, which began on Friday at the University Club (par 72/6,215 yards).
Fabiola Arriaga, Chelsea Bretcher, Taylor Newlin and Brogan Townend all fired 79s and the quartet is tied for 41st with 36 holes remaining. Freshman Aimee Ponte is tied for 63rd after shooting an 82.
The Roadrunners finished the day in 11th place after carding a 316, one shot behind 10th-place UNC Wilmington. Purdue turned in a 297 and leads the 15-team field and the Boilermakers were followed by SMU (299), Arkansas (302), Kentucky (302) and Central Florida (303).
The final 36 holes are slated to tee off at 8 a.m. on Saturday due to the threat of inclement weather on Sunday.
