UTSA to return to action this weekend at Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to action this weekend when it travels to Knoxville, Tenn., to compete at the 17th Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championship.

The Roadrunners will face Arkansas, Campbell, Chattanooga, College of Charleston, Louisville, Michigan, Missouri, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rollins, South Carolina, Tennessee, Tulane and UCF. The field will play 18 holes each day with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. (CT) at Cherokee Country Club (par 71/5,897 yards).

UTSA finished sixth at last year's event with an 800 (292-299-289). Taylor Newlin tied for 23rd (72-78-71—221) and Fabiola Arriaga (75-74-73—222) and Chelsea Bretcher (73-75-74—222) tied for 26th.

The tournament also marks a homecoming for head coach Carrie Parnaby, who played at Tennessee from 1998-2002. She earned honorable mention All-Southeastern Conference honors and helped the Lady Vols achieve a No. 2 national ranking at one point during her career. Parnaby got her coaching start as a student assistant in 2002-03 and was an assistant coach from 2004-08, helping Tennessee make four NCAA Regional and three NCAA Championship appearances.
