MCKINNEY — Junior-to-be Taylor Newlin continued her
winning ways with a 6 and 5 match-play victory on Wednesday morning in the
second round of the Women's Texas Golf Association (WTGA) State Amateur
Championship, which is being played on the Dye Course at Stonebridge Ranch
Country Club.
The Frisco native defeated Fort Worth's Chaney Uhles and she
now will face Talia Campbell, who will begin her freshman campaign at Notre
Dame this fall, in the quarterfinals, which tees off at 8 a.m. on Thursday. The
winner of that match will move on to the 1 p.m. semifinal round and square off against either Mina Hardin or Jennifer Park.
