Roadrunners to play at Anuenue Spring Break Classic this week

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will look to run its streak of tournament victories to three when it competes at the Anuenue Spring Break Classic this week in Kapalua, Hawai’i. The Roadrunners will try to extend their winning ways against a tough field that includes five teams that currently are ranked in golfstat.com’s Top 25.

Where: Kapalua Bay Course (par 72/6,022 yards) — Kapalua, Hawai’i

When: Monday, March 26 — Tuesday, March 17

Format: Two-day event with a shotgun start to each day. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday.

Teams: #15 California, #14 Colorado, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Hawai’i-Hilo, Mississippi, Nevada, #22 Oregon, Oregon State, Osaka Gakuin, #19 Pepperdine, Seattle, #13 Tennessee, UTSA.

Fabiola Arriaga (So. - Torreon, Mexico)
· Leads the the squad with a 74.63 stroke average
· Won The Alamo Invitational (Oct. 30-Nov. 1) with a career-low 213 (69-72-72)

· Named Southland Conference Player of the Month for November
· Her career-best round of 69 came in the first round of The Alamo Invitational (Oct. 30-) and The Challenge at Onion Creek (Nov. 7-8)

Summer Batiste (Sr. - Spring, Texas)

· Shot a season-low 71 three times
· Two-time second-team All-Southland selection
· Owns six career top-10 finishes
· Recorded three eagles last season to rank 16th in the nation
· Finished tied for 14th at 2011 Southland Championship

Shannon Jungman (Sr. - Pflugerville, Texas)
· Second on the team with a career-best 76.00 stroke average
· Three top five finishes this season, including a career-best third-place finish at the Insperity Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate (March 16-18)
· Set career marks for single round (69) and 54-hole score (73-69-74-216) at The Alamo Invitational (Oct. 30-Nov. 1)
· Tied for fifth at the 2011 Alamo Invitational and 2011 Southland Championship
· Has appeared in more tournaments (33) than any other current UTSA golfer

Taylor Newlin (So. - Frisco, Texas)
· Tied for fourth on the squad with a 76.29 stroke average
· Tied with teammate Summer Batiste for the top spot at the Islanders Classic (Feb. 27-28)
· Shot a season-low 54-hole score of 220 twice
· 2011 second-team All-Southland
 Finished fourth at the 2011 Southland Championship
· Shot a career-best 69 at the 2010 Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship
· Finished in the top 15 four times last season

Paola Valerio (Jr. - Mexico City, Mexico)
· Tied for fourth on the team with a 76.29 stroke average
· Shot a season-best round of 71 at the Texas A&M "Mo"Morial (Sept. 11-13) and The Alamo Invitational (Oct. 30-Nov. 1)
· 2010-11 Southland Conference Women's Golfer of the Year
· Only two-time first-team All-Southland selection in program history
· Set school records with a single-round 66 and 54-hole score of 212 to finish fifth at the 2010 Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships
· Two-time Southland Conference Golfer of the Month (October 2010/February 2011)
· Led the team and conference with a 75.25 stroke average to set a UTSA single-season record last year
