UTSA to play at BYU Entrada Classic this week

SAN ANTONIO — The UTSA women’s golf team will head west this week for the BYU Entrada Classic. The two-day tournament begins on Monday Entrada at Snow Hills Country Club (6,154 yards/par 72) in St. George, Utah. The Roadruners have finished in the top 10 at all three tournaments this spring and notched top-five finishes in their last two outings.

Where: Entrada at Snow Hills Country Club (6,154 yards/par 72) – St. George, Utah

When: Monday, March 21 – Tuesday, March 22

Format: Two-day event with shotgun start for Mondays's first two rounds and tee times for Monday’s final 18 holes

Teams: #44 BYU, Colorado State, Illinois, Kansas State, New Mexico State, Nebraska, #48 Oklahoma State, SMU, Southern Utah, Texas State, #46 Tulsa, UTSA, Weber State, Wisconsin, Wyoming.

Fabiola Arriaga (Fr. – Torreon, Mexico)
· Tied for 13th at the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, March 13-14
· Third on the squad with a 75.75 stroke average
· Low round of the season was a 71 at the UCF Challenge, Feb. 13-15
· Recorded a 74 in her first collegiate round

Summer Batiste (Jr. – Austin, Texas)
· Best finish of the year was tied for 13th at the Alamo Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2
· Tied for 13th at the Alamo Invitational, Oct. 31-Nov. 2
· Second on the team with a 75.73 stroke average
· Only player to record an eagle on the season and enters the BYU Entrada Classic with two
· 2009-10 second-team All-Southland

Shannon Jungman (Jr. – Pflugerville, Texas)
· Will be making her sixth appearance of the season
· Tied for 16th at the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate, March 13-14
· Fifth on the squad with a 77.36  stroke average
· Shot a career-best 72 in the first round of the Alamo Invitational and again in the third round of the Administaff Lady Jaguar Intercollegiate

Taylor Newlin (Fr. – Frisco, Texas)
· Finished tied for fourth in her first collegiate tournament, the Chip-N Club Invitational, Sept. 13-14
· Fourth on the team with a 75.90 stroke average
· Shot a 69 at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Championship, Oct. 8-10
· Finished in the top 15 three times this season

Paola Valerio (So. – Mexico City, Mexico)
· Set school records with a 66 and 54-hole score of 212 to finish fifth at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate Championships, Oct. 8-10.
· Two-time Southland Conference Golfer of the Month (October 2010/February 2011)
· Leads the team with a 74.10 stroke average
· Finished in the top-10 four times this year and tied for second at the Islander Classic, Feb. 28-March 1
· 2010 first-team All-Southland Conference
