Baylor edges UTSA on first day of dual match play tournament
WACO — No. 40 Baylor edged No. 58 UTSA, 2-1, on Saturday's first day of a dual match play tournament at Ridgewood Country Club.
The two teams played all 18 holes in two-on-two scrambles with pairs competing against each other in a match-play format.
Brogan Townend and Libby Thomas teamed up to defeat Louise Gateau-Chovelon and Natalia Perez, 4-up.
However, the Lady Bears emerged with narrow victories in the other two pairings.
Hayley Davis and Laura Lonardi posted a 2-up win against Fabiola Arriaga and Taylor Newlin. Maggie Beth Byers and Hadas Libman escaped with a 1-up decision over Chelsea Bretcher and Aimee Ponte to hand Baylor the one-point victory.
Sunday's round will tee off at 9:30 a.m. and will feature the following head-to-head, match-play pairings listed below.
