DALLAS — Bolstered by a one-under par round from Fabiola Arriaga, the UTSA women's golf team moved into fourth place after the second day of the Dallas Athletic Club/SMU Invitational, which was played on Saturday at the Dallas Athletic Club (par 72/6,257 yards).

Arriaga carded a 71 to help the Roadrunners post a 297, a 10-shot improvement from their opening round, which vaulted them into fourth place ahead of five top-50 squads in the 16-team field.

The senior from Torreon, Mexico, registered a pair of birdies on the front nine during her round and she moved into a five-way tie for second place at two-over 146. Elizabeth Mallett of North Carolina holds the individual lead at three-under 141 (72-69) with 18 holes remaining.

Meanwhile, UTSA's 36-hole tally of 604 (307-297) puts it one shot ahead of No. 40 Kansas (605), two in front of 15th-ranked Oklahoma State (606) and seven better than No. 16 Wake Forest (611). No. 49 SMU (613), Texas Tech (619), TCU (620) and Kansas State (620) round out the top 10. No. 48 Baylor leads the pack at 15-over 591 (294-297), followed by 18th-ranked LSU (595) and No. 29 North Carolina (597).

Aimee Ponte turned in the second-best round for the Roadrunners with a two-over 74, while Taylor Newlin and Brogan Townend both came in at four-over 76. Newlin is tied for 16th at seven-over 151.
