UTSA to be fourth seed at this week's Western Athletic Conference Tournament
SAN ANTONIO — After sweeping back-to-back Western Athletic Conference (WAC) series to conclude the regular season, UTSA will be the fourth seed at this week's postseason tournament. The five-day event will take place from Wednesday-Sunday, May 22-26, at QuikTrip Park in Grand Prairie.
The WAC Tournament will feature two pods of four teams each. Each club is guaranteed three games against the other three other squads within its pod. The two teams with the best record from each pod will advance to play in the championship game, which is scheduled for at 1 p.m. on Sunday, May 26.
The Roadrunners (31-23) have been placed in the same pod as league co-champion and top seed seed CSU Bakersfield, fifth-seeded Sacramento State and No. 8 seed San Jose State.
Meanwhile, the second pod features co-champion and second-seeded UT Arlington, No. 3 seed Texas State, sixth-seeded New Mexico State and No. 7 seed Dallas Baptist.
UTSA will open tournament play against Sacramento State (33-23) at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 22. The Roadrunners then will play San Jose State (17-38) at 3 p.m. the following day and wrap up pool-play against CSU Bakersfield (35-21) at 7 p.m. on Friday.
