Roadrunners close play at Florida State Match-Up on Sunday
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — No. 41 UTSA shot a 301 on Sunday and it finished in eighth place at this weekend's Florida State Match-Up, which was played at Southwood Golf Club (par 72/7,172 yards).
The Roadrunners carded a three-round total of 909 (299-309-301) to finish nine strokes ahead of Michigan and three behind 15th-ranked Notre Dame.
Leading the way was Brogan Townend, who shaved a stroke off her second round total with a 73. The Blackburn, England, native carded birdies on Nos. 1 and 10 to finish in a tie for 18th place with a 225 (78-74-73).
Meanwhile, Paola Valerio tied for 31st with a 229 (71-81-77) and Fabiola Arriaga finished tied for 31st at 230 (77-80-73).
Taylor Newlin tied for 36th (231/73-79-79) and Chelsea Bretcher rounded out the lineup with a 236 (82-76-78), which was good for 52nd place.
No. 16 Georgia captured the team title with an 877 (290-300-287). The Lady Bulldogs were led by Rocio Sanchez Lobato, who shared individual medalist honors with Tennessee's Erica Popson at 214.
The Roadrunners will return to the links next week at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate, which will be played from Feb. 24-26 in New Orleans, La.
