UTSA to open four-match home stand on Saturday against Incarnate Word
SAN ANTONIO — Winners of three straight, the UTSA men's tennis team will open a four-match home stand against Incarnate Word at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Roadrunners ran their record to 6-9 with a pair of victories last weekend in Arlington. UTSA edged former Southland and Western Athletic Conference rival UT Arlington, 4-3, on Friday and then took care of New Mexico State with a 5-2 neutral-court decision a day later.
Tomas Stillman leads the Roadrunners with a 12-1 singles record, including a perfect 4-0 mark at the No. 2 spot in the lineup. The junior transfer also has teamed with Joel Rubio for a 12-1 mark in doubles and that duo is ranked No. 33 nationally by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
The Cardinals are 7-3 on the season in their first season reclassifying to NCAA Division I. UIW had a seven-match winning streak snapped by Abilene Christian in a 4-3 setback in its last outing on March 9.
UTSA registered a 5-2 home win in the last meeting between the two schools on Feb. 10, 2013.
