SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will play its final regular season match on Saturday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The pivotal Southland Conference contest is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. at Thomas J. Henry Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners (10-10, 2-2 SLC), who have won three of their last four matches, can clinch a berth to the Southland Tournament with a victory against the Islanders (10-10, 2-0 SLC). However, a loss on Saturday will require the Birds to wait out Lamar's results in its final three league contests.
Freshman David Kelleher has won nine of his last 10 singles tilts, including six in row. The Cooper City, Fla., native owns a team-best 14-3 overall record this spring. Meanwhile, senior Pedro Zanotelli and sophomore Yannick Junger have teamed up to produce a squad-best 11-7 mark at No. 1 doubles.
Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, which has won three of its last four outings, swept Prairie View A&M, 7-0, last Saturday. The Islanders are led in singles play by Fernando Llorens and Aurelien Tave, who both have posted 10 victories this season. Andrew Maingot and Nathan Robinson have teamed up to win three consecutive doubles matches and they boast a 2-0 mark in Southland play.
