No. 33 UNC Wilmington downs UTSA, 5-2

WILMINGTON, N.C. — No. 33 UNC Wilmington handed UTSA a 5-2 setback on Sunday at the UNCW Tennis Complex.

The Seahawks improved to 10-4 this spring, while the Roadrunners dropped to 6-8.

UTSA fell behind early, as UNC Wilmington swept all three doubles tilts to claim the opening point.

The Seahawks carried their momentum into singles action by winning the first three matches at the Nos. 2, 4 and 6 positions to clinch the contest.

The Roadrunners picked up their only two points at Nos. 1 and 3 singles.

Sophomore Yannick Junger downed Chris Cooprider, 7-5, 6-2, at the top spot, while junior Martin Ayala netted a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) victory against Kosta Blank at the third position.

UTSA will return to the Alamo City to host UMBC (5-6) at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.
