DALLAS — UTSA came up a singles win shy of upsetting No. 64 SMU and the Roadrunners dropped a 4-3 decision on Saturday at the Turpin Tennis Center.

The Mustangs (4-5) earned the opening point by winning two of three doubles matches and then proceeded to take three of the six singles contests to earn the one-point victory.

UTSA (5-5) collected singles wins at the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 positions.

Sophomore Tyler Brown gained a quick 6-0, 6-2 victory against Bryan Griffin at the No. 3 spot, while senior Daniel Moreiras gained a straight-sets triumph at the No. 5 position after topping Mischa Nowicki, 6-4, 6-2. Senior Max Stratmann picked up the other win after knocking off Adham el-Effendi, 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 1-0 (10-6), at the No. 4 slot.
