SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will return to the courts this weekend when it opens its home schedule with a doubleheader against St. Edwards and Trinity this Saturday, Feb. 8, at the UTSA Tennis Center.
The Roadrunners will face the Hilltoppers at 10 a.m. and the Tigers at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
UTSA (0-3) is looking for its first win after dropping three matches to open the season, including a 5-2 setback against SMU last Friday. Diogo Casa pulled off an upset against a nationally-ranked opponent in the No. 1 singles match, and he was joined in the win column by Joel Rubio, who leads the team with a 2-1 singles record this season.
After losing two of the three doubles matches and only picking up a pair of singles victories, St. Edwards (0-1) dropped its first match of the season to Laredo Community College, 6-3.
Trinity (2-1) also picked up its first loss of the season last Saturday. The Tigers stormed back from an early 3-1 deficit but were outlasted by defending JUCO national champion, Tyler Junior College, 5-4.
The Roadrunners defeated both St. Edwards on Feb. 10, 2013, and Trinity on Feb. 15, 2012, in their last meetings by 6-1 counts.
