HENDERSON, Nev. — Led by fifth-place finishes from J.J. Lindsey and Garrison Lackey, UTSA finished fourth at this week's Western Athletic Conference Championship, which concluded on Wednesday at Rio Secco Golf Club (par 72/7,313 yards).

The Roadrunners carded a 903 (293-311-299) to hold off Idaho (910) for fourth place, the program's best league finish since tying for fourth in 2009. New Mexico State captured the team title with an 877 (286-298-303), followed by UT Arlington (893) and San Jose State (900). Utah State (915), Denver (917), Texas State (918), Seattle (930) and Louisiana Tech (933) rounded out the team standings.

Lindsey and Lackey both completed the 54-hole tournament at seven-over-par 223 in recording the Roadrunners' best individual conference finish since Ryan Werre tied for third in 2011.

Lindsey held the individual lead for the first two rounds after carding a 69 and 76, but the Adkins native fell to fifth after turning in a 78 during the final 18 holes.

Meanwhile, Lackey entered the day in ninth after carding scores of 70 and 79 and the Weslaco product moved up to fifth with a final-round 74.

Brett Hogan tied for 23rd (79-78-73—230), Werre tied for 28th (75-82-74—231) and Stanton Tondre closed out his collegiate career tied for 46th (81-78-83—242).

UT Arlington's Paul McConnell rallied to win the individual crown with a three-under 69, capping off a 71-78-69—218 scorecard.

"The future is bright for UTSA," head coach John Knauer said. "Our top three finishers were two freshmen and a sophomore, and they were followed by a junior. With the bulk of the team returning, we look forward to competing in Conference USA next year."
