Hogan guides UTSA to 11th place at Conference USA Championship
EDMOND, Okla. — Brett Hogan tied for 22nd place to lead UTSA to an 11th-place finish at this week's Conference USA Championship, which concluded on Tuesday at Oak Tree Country Club (par 70/6,861 yards).
Hogan carded a 10-over-par 220 (76-70-74) to finish in a six-way tie for 22nd in the 70-player field. The sophomore from Calgary, Alberta, registered eight birdies during the 54-hole event with three coming in his final-round 74.
Ryan Werre was three shots behind his fellow Canadian, as the senior closed out his UTSA career with a 223 (72-74-77) to tie for 32nd. The Redcliff, Alberta, native turned in an eagle on the par-5 fourth hole to highlight his round on Tuesday.
J.J. Lindsey tied for 44th (80-71-76—227) and posted 38 pars to rank third in the field. Garrison Lackey tied for 49th (79-75-76—230) and Bryce Alley was 55th (82-74-76—232).
The Roadrunners posted a 302 on Tuesday and finished with an 898 (307-289-302), which was four shots behind 10th-place North Texas (894).
Rice won the team title with a 21-over 861 (293-282-286), followed by No. 18 UAB (862), Tulsa (866), Charlotte (868) and Middle Tennessee (869).
Tulsa's Matt Mabrey rallied with a final-round 70 to edge teammate Logan McCracken — the 36-hole leader — for the individual crown. Mabrey was the only player to shoot below par with a one-under 209 (70-69-70).
