Hogan's even-par 70 leads UTSA at Conference USA Championship
EDMOND, Okla. — Led by an even-par 70 from Brett Hogan, UTSA posted an 18-shot improvement during the second round of the Conference USA Championship, which was played on Monday at Oak Tree Country Club (par 70/6,861 yards).
Hogan wrote down three birdies, including a pair as part of a 34 on the front nine, in turning in the low round for the Roadrunners on day two of the 54-hole event. The sophomore from Calgary, Alberta, moved into a tie for 22nd at six-over 146 with 18 holes to play.
Ryan Werre also is in a tie for 22nd after following Monday's 72 with a 74, while J.J. Lindsey carded a 71 — UTSA's second-best round of the day — to move into 48th (80-71—151). Garrison Lackey and Bryce Alley are tied for 52nd (79-75—154) and 55th (82-74—156), respectively.
The Roadrunners jumped one spot into a tie for 10th alongside Old Dominion at 596. UTSA improved upon its opening-round 307 with a nine-over 289 on Monday and is just two shots back of North Texas and UTEP, who are tied for eighth (594).
Tulsa continues to lead the 14-team field at nine-over 569 (288-281) behind individual leader Logan McCracken, who is at three-under 137 (67-70). The Golden Hurricane is followed by Charlotte (572), No. 18 UAB (573), Middle Tennessee (575) and Rice (575) in the top five.
The final round is slated to tee off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
