UTSA to compete at Border Olympics this weekend

SAN ANTONIO — UTSA will play its second event of the week when it travels to Laredo to compete at this weekend's Border Olympics. The two-day tournament is slated to tee off on Friday at Laredo Country Club (par 72/7,125 yards).

The Roadrunners will square off against 16 teams — including a trio of top-30 squad in No. 8 Houston, No. 13 Oklahoma, No. 30 Baylor — as well as Air Force, Central Arkansas, Houston Baptist, Gonzaga, Lamar, Louisiana-Monroe, McNeese State, Northern Colorado, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas-Pan American, Texas State and UT Arlington.

UTSA posted an 880 (292-292-296) to place sixth at last year's event behind J.J. Lindsey’s 221 (77-72-72), which tied for 18th. Ryan Werre and Brett Hogan finished one shot behind with a 222 to tie for 23rd.

The Roadrunners finished sixth with an 880 (299-283-298) at the Louisiana Classics on Monday-Tuesday. Bryce Alley and Werre carded a 219 to lead the team and tie for 20th.
