Roadrunners in fourth after two rounds of Jim West Intercollegiate

McKINNEY — UTSA is in fourth place after two rounds of the Jim West Intercollegiate, which teed off on Monday at TPC Craig Ranch (par 72/7,417 yards).

The Roadrunners carded an even-par 288 to claim the first-round lead, but they fell to six shots off the 36-hole pace set by UALR (591) with a 309 in a second round buffeted by 25-35 mile-per-hour winds. UTSA's 597 is one stroke ahead of Oral Roberts and three back of Ball State and four behind No. 36 Vanderbilt (593) in the 11-team field.

A trio of Roadrunners are tied for 19th in the individual standings. Garrison Lackey opened with a one-under 71 and followed that with a 79 and is at six-over 150 with 18 holes remaining. Ryan Werre fired a 150 (74-76) and J.J. Lindsey turned rounds of 73 and 77.

Brett Hogan registered UTSA's low round of the day with a two-under 70 on the first 18 and he is tied for 25th at seven-over 151. Stanton Tondre is one shot behind at 152 (75-77) in a tie for 30th.

Competing as an individual, Mitchell Griffin posted the Roadrunners' top 36-hole score with a four-over 148 (74-74) and he is tied for eighth.

Northern Illinois' Bryce Emory leads the individual race after recording a one-under 143 (71-72) and he is the only player in the red through the event's first 36 holes.

Tuesday's final round is slated for a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
