UTSA earns Golf Coaches Association of America All-Academic Team accolades
The Roadrunners compiled a 3.11 GPA during the 2011-12 academic year to collect the honor for the third consecutive year.
“I am so pleased that our team has stepped up once again to be recognized as one of the top academic teams in college golf,” head coach John Knauer said. “When you consider all the travel, practice and workout commitments placed upon these student-athletes, for them to achieve this award for the third year in a row is a wonderful accomplishment. There were only 68 teams out of more than 300 in Division I to get this recognition, so that places us in the top-22 percent. That is very elite company. I could not be more proud of my guys.”
UTSA was one of 68 NCAA Division I squads honored with the award and the only team from the Southland Conference. DePaul was tabbed as the Academic National Champions after posting a 3.69 team GPA.
To be eligible for GCAA All-Academic Team honors a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
