UTSA inks Garrison Lackey to National Letter of Intent
SAN ANTONIO — UTSA head men’s golf coach John Knauer announced Wednesday that he has signed Garrison Lackey (Weslaco, Texas/Weslaco HS/Texarkana College) to a National Letter of Intent. He will join the Roadrunners for the 2012-13 season and have three years of eligibility remaining.
“We are extremely pleased to add Garrison to our arsenal,” Knauer said. “He will add experience to our lineup and have an immediate impact on our program. We return everyone from this year’s team and with the addition of Garrison and our two fall signees, Brett Hogan and J.J. Lindsey, this team is poised to usher in a new era of UTSA men’s golf."

A top-40 ranked JUCO player as a freshman for Texarkana College … finished as runner-up at the Paris Fall Invitational with a 137 (68-69) … posted a fourth-place showing at the Hal Sutton Intercollegiate after carding a 146 (71-75) … turned in a 147 (75-72) to place sixth at the UMHB Fall Invitational … coached by Rick Rogers, older brother of current UTSA Director of Golf Development and 1981 British Open Champion and PGA Player of the Year Bill Rogers … standout prepster at Weslaco High School … won the District 32-5A individual title as a senior with a 139 (69-70) to help Weslaco capture the team championship … helped lead the Panthers to a sixth-place finish at the regional tournament … also claimed district individual medalist honors as a junior in 2010 with a 72 to help the Panthers capture the team title by 19 strokes … won the 2010 Texas Junior Golf Tour’s Thanksgiving Classic at Horseshoe Bay with a 146 (71-75) … posted a pair of runner-up finishes on the Southern Texas PGA Junior Tour in 2010 … finished third with a 147 (71-76) at the 2010 Greyrock Junior Championship … registered a 218 (76-69-73) to place 13th at the 2011 American Junior Golf Association’s Elbit Systems of America Junior Championship in Fort Worth … also averaged 15 points per game for the basketball team and helped Weslaco win the district title and advance to the third round of the playoffs as a senior.
