McKINNEY — Led by a three-over-par 75 from junior Stanton Tondre on Monday, UTSA is in eighth place after the first round of play at the Southland Conference Championships, which is being played at Stonebridge Ranch Country Club (par 72/7,346 yards).
Tondre, a Medina Valley High product, is in a tie for 17th place after 18 holes, two shots out of the top 10 and six strokes off the pace set by Lamar’s Xavier Feyaerts (69).
Reed Stegall is tied for 23rd after firing a four-over 76, while
sophomore Ryan Werre is tied for 28th (77). Junior Taylor Koser and
redshirt freshman Martin Board are tied for 34th (79) and 43rd (81),
The Roadrunners carded a 307 and are just two shots behind Sam Houston State (305) for seventh and six back of Southeastern Louisiana and UT Arlington (299). Lamar holds a three-shot advantage after turning in an even-par 288. Central Arkansas (291), Texas State (296) and Stephen F. Austin (298) round out the top four.
Round two gets underway at 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
