Alley named to Conference USA All-Freshman Team
IRVING — Bryce Alley was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman Team, the league office announced on Tuesday.
Alley was one of five players selected to the squad in a vote by the league’s head coaches. He is the second Roadrunner to collect conference freshman honors, joining 2011 Southland Conference Freshman of the Year Ryan Werre.
Alley ranked second on the team with a 74.19 stroke average during his freshman campaign and he led the Roadrunners with a 73.70 average in the spring season. The Longview native posted a trio of top-20 finishes, including tying for 13th with a 220 (72-72-76) to help UTSA win its second consecutive Rice Intercollegiate title in February.
Alley broke par in six rounds and shot even par five other times while playing in all 12 tournaments. He finished 15th at the Wyoming Cowboy Classic after firing a season-best 211 that included a collegiate career-low 67 in the second round, which was tied for the lowest round on the team this season. Alley also posted a 216 at both the Sam Hall Intercollegiate in his debut to tie for 35th and at the Bayou City Collegiate Championship to finish 33rd.
