Werre leads UTSA on first day of Conference USA Championship
EDMOND, Okla. — Ryan Werre is tied for 10th place and UTSA is tied for 11th after the first round of the Conference USA Men's Golf Championship, which was held on Sunday at Oak Tree Golf Club (par 70/6,861 yards).
Werre carded a two-over-par 72 on the strength of 14 pars, tops among the 70-player field, and is in a four-way tie for 10th place. The senior from Redcliff, Alberta, is five shots off the pace set by Logan McCracken of Tulsa, who fired a 67, with 36 holes remaining.
Brett Hogan posted the second-best round for the Roadrunners with a 76 and the sophomore is tied for 33rd. Garrison Lackey turned in a 79 and is tied for 50th, while J.J. Lindsey and Bryce Alley are tied for 53rd (80) and 60th (82), respectively.
The Roadrunners are tied with Old Dominion for 11th after posting a 307, one shot behind Marshall and three back of Louisiana Tech.
Tulsa leads after recording an eight-over 288, followed by No. 18 UAB (290), Charlotte (291), Middle Tennessee (293) and Rice (293).
The second round is scheduled to get underway with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday.
