HUMBLE — Led by a final-round 68 from Ryan Werre, the UTSA men's golf team finished ninth at this weekend's Bayou City Collegiate Championship, which concluded on Sunday at The Golf Club of Houston (par 72/6,967 yards).

Werre, a native of Redcliff, Alberta, registered four birdies on the front nine en route to a 33 and two more on the back in posting his low round of the season and his best 18 since a 67 in the first round of the 2012 Herb Wimberly Intercollegiate.

Meanwhile, Bryce Alley turned in his second one-under 71 of the tournament to help the Roadrunners post an even-par 288 and place ninth with an eight-over 872 (292-292-288) in the 15-team field that included six ranked squads. Alley finished in a tie for 33rd with an even-par 216 (71-74-71) to lead UTSA.

J.J. Lindsey carded a 73 to cap off a 220 (74-73-73) and tie for 46th, while Garrison Lackey tied for 55th with a 221 (73-71-77). Brett Hogan was 64th (74-74-76—224) and Werre was 79th (85-78-68—231).

No. 15-ranked and co-host Houston led from wire-to-wire and claimed the team title with a 31-under 833 (280-277-276) on the strength of individual medalist Roman Robledo's 12-under 204 (69-69-66). No. 21 Texas was second (841), followed by No. 29 South Carolina (851), No. 19 Arkansas (855), No. 31 Baylor (856), co-host Rice (861), New Mexico State (868) and Charlotte (869). UTSA finished one stroke ahead of No. 14 South Florida (872) and Louisiana Tech (873), Mississippi State (875), Louisiana-Lafayette (880), Lamar (884) and Houston Baptist (888) rounded out the team standings.

The Roadrunners will return to the course in two weeks when they travel to Lafayette, La., to compete in the Louisiana Classics. The two-day tournament is slated to tee off on March 10.
